Gord Gouger has only just started his 'Poker Staking' blog, and he himself has not been playing poker for very long. As a relative beginner, and a newcomer to the world of staking, Gord is an engaging character to follow in his experiences and lessons in the online poker world.
What Gord has that some other bloggers are lacking is an identification with the new player. He professes to being somewhat of a novice, but he has done his homework and is ready to impart his knowledge to other new players. He presents his material in an easy, accessible way, is unassuming and honest.
The blog is focused mainly on one element of the game, that is of poker staking. This inevitably splits his readership, as for those of you who have no interest in staking, this is not a blog worth reading. However, if you are interested in staking, this is probably one of the best places in which to learn about the realities of investing your money with other people, find out exact figures and profit potential, and read about the psycological impact of engaging it this aspect of the game.
The blog has only been running for a few months, and has a very low reader count at present. This is probably due to the specific nature of its content, and should not be taken as a reason not to read Gord's blog if this is something of interest to you.
Updates are currently averaging 3 a month, which is acceptable but certainly could be improved upon.
The articles are easily digestible, and although they are informative and precise, they are not so long and rambling as to lose the reader.
You can only subscribe to the blog to receive updates, or become a 'follower' through Google. Gord would do well to invest some time in building his social options on facebook and the like, and thus increase his readership.
Due to the lack of social options, you can only contact Gord through leaving comments on his posts. However, as this blog is still in its infancy, you will be sure to get a prompt reply.
