An Affair or an emotional affair is when a person not only invests more of their emotional energy outside their marriage, but also receives emotional support and companionship from the new relationship. In an emotional affair, a person feels closer to the other party and may experience increasing sexual tension. If you believe that a person's emotional energy is limited, then if your spouse is sharing intimate thoughts and feelings with someone else, an emotional affair has developed.Although cheaters are often guilt-free in an emotional affair because there is no sex involved, their spouses often view an emotional affair as damaging as a sexual affair.Much of the pain and hurt from an emotional affair is due to the deception, lies, and feelings of being betrayed.

What causes infidelity? What makes people go for an Extra Marital Affair? There's hundreds of reasons and explanations for adultry. But the very first question you should be thinking , is "why?" Why would they do such a thing?

One of the cause is the feeling of superiority, or inferiority. When a spouse starts to develop a feeling of superiority over his or her significant other, they'll think that they have this extra privileges that they acquired automatically. For example, if he feels like he's smarter than his wife, and whenever the wife voices her opinion, he obliterates her ideas completely, gives her a good scolding, and shows his superiority, which at times might result to physical abuse. With the mentality of "I'm so good, and she's good for nothing", he feels like he can do whatever he likes. Even cheat on her, and starts having illicit affairs with other women.

Why would a woman want to indulge herself into married affair or marital affair? What could she possibly gain from it? And what reasons or motives could she have in mind for getting herself into this type of adulterous situations? Throughout history, the art of the Love Triangle is formed when a woman has two men in her life and loves them booth, a husband and an illicit encouter that she may have come accross.

Simply put into today's modern world, a woman will commit marital infidelity when she thinks that they have found the perfect man to become a part her life. A man that she can't have because she's tied to someone else, which in most cases, the husband or partner has become less attractive and appealing for some reason that even she is sometimes unsure of.

All women whether they want to admit it or no, want the Best Man available and will go to unrealistic measures to get him. She may or may not be able to get him, and have to settle for what she considers less than what she wanted and this can also lead to married affairs, because she has never had who she really wanted. So, in her mind marital infidelity is rational especially if the new man is more attentive and more attractive than what she has at home. Whatever the cause of infidelity is, it's still cheating.
