So you want to get your ex back? You aren’t alone. Every year there are millions of breakups in the U.S. alone. They usually leave both sides upset, and within days or a few weeks a lot of the time one person will want to get back together with the other.
Every situation is different, but there are still a lot of common mistakes made by people trying to win back their ex. Here’s a few of the biggest ones that can actually cause more harm than good!
1) Trying too Hard to Get Them Back
Stop emailing, calling, or text messaging your ex all the time! It will be much easier to get your ex back if you give them a little break and don’t try too hard.
If you keep contacting them, they’ll get annoyed with you and you’ll just push them away even more.
Instead play it cool, and completely ignore them for at least a few weeks. That way when you do start rebuilding the relationship things will be more cooled down.
2) Realize Why the Breakup Happened
This is HUGE in your mission to get your ex back.
Why did the breakup happen? Was it something one person did, or both?
Whatever the reason, you have to see things from your ex’s point of view. Only then can you get on “their side”, which is a great starting point to rebuild the relationship.
Also, realize that this is the only way to really be able to fix the problems that made you breakup in the first place!
3) Be Patient
Don’t expect to get your ex back overnight!
Chances are it will take at least a few weeks if not months to happen.
Besides just being patient with them, you’ll have to be patient with friends and family too.
They may expect you to start dating again, or “move on.”
Although this can be good in a way if you make your ex a little jealous, you should stay on the side of caution and not get into anything too serious.
4) Be Strong and Independent
Although some people think they want a clingy boyfriend or girlfriend who does whatever they want… they usually change their minds if it actually happens. Men want independent women who can live their own lives, just like women want strong men whose lives don’t revolve around their girl.
If you sit at home in self pity eating ice cream every night, you will probably never get your ex back.On the other hand if you’re having fun with friends and family, working hard at your job, and living a normal, healthy lifestyle then you have a much better chance to get back your ex!
