With the help of this article you will be able to calibrate your paintball gun and also make sure that you will be playing safely and fairly, according to the rules set by the International Paintball Players Association. It is not a very difficult task to do; here is what you must accomplish:

1. The first and most important aspect you need to be aware of is that paintballing is more fun as well as safe when everyone using the guns is firing at the normal, regulated speeds.

2. Here is what you need to do. Locate a radar chronograph. If you are used to playing with a group of people, it is advisable that you all chip in and buy one. If you cannot afford one, go to the local store or the paintball field.

3. After you have located a chronograph, you need to fire three shots over it.

4. Read the speed on the chronograph. They measure feet per seconds also know as FPS. All of the three shots should and must be fire at about the same speed. The recommend speed is around 300 FPS or so.

5. You will need to adjust the air regulator on your paintgun as necessary and then test it at the chronograph.

6. We strongly advise you to play when all of your friends are firing at the proper speed.

You also need to be aware of the fact that paintguns fire harder in higher temperatures. If you choose to chronograph the paintgun early in the morning, by afternoon everyone’s paintguns should be tested with the chronograph. As a safety precaution, when you use the chronograph, always wear eye protection while handling the paintgun.

During the paintball gun calibration test, you need to record the rate at how fast the balls are thrown out from the gun. This also means how fast the gun actually fires them. If the gun is not firing at the same speed, you need to make adjustments to the air regular of your paintball gun. Check again and again until all of the shots are calibrated.

You must be very attentive because many players have the tendency to turn their guns up after using the chronograph. A nasty habit, but it is quite common nowadays. If you feel that someone is shooting too hot, have him check out his paintgun at the chronograph. All players that are caught turning up their paintgun after passing the chronograph will be barred from the paintball field.

Many people nowadays choose to build their own paintball guns. If you are one of them, then the entire process of calibrating the gun is obligatory because in comparison to professional paintball guns that come pre-calibrated, your gun surely is not around 300 FPS.

All things considered, the process of calibrating a paintball gun by using a chronograph is very important to the fairness and safety of the sport. It is not a very hard thing to do which is why all paintball players should test out the gun before getting to the paintball field.
