Diabetes sufferers have long had to live with the knowledge that their condition was permanent knowing that there was no cure. This may look like a dim outlook for many individuals, but the fact is that while there is no such thing as a cure, there certainly are ways to manage diabetes to such an extent that medication isn't necessary.

Diabetes management starts with a visit to your doctor. Learning you have diabetes and what type you have is the 1st step. Once you have been diagnosed, educate yourself regarding the challenges you're facing. Discuss with others with the same type of diabetes and then work with your doctor to develop a diabetes management plan designed to benefit you. Regardless of the details for the plan though, generally, all management plans involve controlling the glucose cycle. The entry of glucose into the bloodstream and then the removal; of said glucose out of your bloodstream through the presence of insulin are the two main components of the glucose cycle. You glucose level isn't something that remains at a steady state. It is extremely sensitive to the foods eaten, as some of these convert into glucose very easily, and exercise, which causes the muscles to burn glucose as fuel. Because of this, changes to either your diet or level of exercise needs to be discussed together with your doctor.

The fate of diabetics doesn't end there however. One of the most important changes in information which has been made to diabetics is that with proper diet and weight reduction the consumption of insulin and medicine might be dramatically reduced. Fitness shows regularly illustrate this point convincingly as contestants begin the shows requiring their medications and after losing significant amounts of weight, are able to be safely removed from those medications by their doctor. Having a healthy lifestyle is as simple as getting down to and maintaining a healthy weight in combination with having an appropriate diet. This continues to be dramatically illustrated by these programs to be a source of great help and inspiration to diabetics.

Unfortunately, obtaining a healthy enough lifestyle that enables them to no longer need their medications is not an easy journey, but it is well worth the price.

1. Aerobic exercise - Affecting primarily the heart, lungs, and circulatory system, cardiovascular training is something that can be quite helpful for diabetics. As a bonus, it also helps to increase endurance.. Cardiovascular exercise is also a great way of burning calories. These types of exercise burn more calories than weights do and are key for losing weight. But not all cardio training programs can be ideal for everyone, and a program can usually be set based on somebody's personal fitness level and would vary from person to person.

2. Weight Exercise -For increasing metabolism, strength exercises are good because they increase the total amount of muscle mass that an individual has. As muscle burns more calories than fat, the increased muscle mass that comes from strength training can make cardio exercises more effective.

3. Nutrition - A proper diet is vital for diabetics because foods which are high in carbohydrates can easily convert into glucose. Developing a diet which is lower in carbohydrates and higher in vegetables and protein may help a diabetic more easily manage their blood glucose levels. The other benefit is that by controlling the diet, a diabetic is really taking advantage of their exercise efforts. If there are few calories going in, the pounds that aggravate the symptoms of diabetes will come off that much quicker.

Managing your diabetes to the point where medication isn't necessary isn't easy and it will definitely require lots of work, but proper management of your diabetes can give you many years of healthy living.
