Looking good can be a hazardous to your health. There are certain cosmetic products such as makeup, skin cleansers, soap, moisturizers, sunscreens, deodorants and perfumes that people with Asthma and Allergies cannot use. The problem lies with the allergic reaction they receive when using these products. I have one client who cannot use any form of makeup or she ends up in the Emergency Room. She looks good without makeup anyway.

Allergies to a lot of these products can bring some of the following reactions such as wheezing, headaches, coughing, shortness of breath, spaciness due to brain allergy and eye-swelling. There are a lot of these products that say hypo-allergenic that our clients cannot use either. Just because it says hypo-allergenic does not mean it is safe. What is safe for one person could cause another's face to swell or have swollen eyes. It is important to test these products prior to using them on your skin. For example: Try a test spot on your skin, if you do not react, it could be alright for you. If you are concerned about these products, consult with your Doctor before using them.

Some of our clients have reported using products that say "Allergy-Free" or "Dermatologist-Tested" which caused some of the following reactions such as hives, itchiness, skin rash, swelling, redness and hot flash like symptoms. During the last 15 years, we have heard some of the stangest symptoms. One that I personally witnessed was the person put this makeup on and turned beet red within 15 minutes of using the product. She had to take a bath to get rid of the symptoms. It is important to watch what you use on your skin. Just because it says "Allergy-Free" or "Dermatologist-Tested" does not mean it is safe for you. Everyone is different. What is safe for one person's skin is not safe for another person.

If you are having a reaction to a cosmetic product, wash it off immediately and stop using it. Symptoms can vary in some people, with mild or more severe reactions. If you are having a severe reaction, contact your Doctor immediately or go to the Emergency Room if it is really severe or life threatening. I have several clients who have life threatening reactions to certain products and end up in the Emergency Room. One lady almost died from a skin moisturizer. Just because the product has been tested on rats does not mean it is safe for you.

Although cosmetics can help women feel more beautiful, they can cause skin irritations or allergic reactions. There are certain ingredients that are used in cosmetics, such as fragrances and preservatives, that can act as allergens. These substances can trigger an allergic reaction. Caution, is a word that never gets used much today. I will use it here to say, "Use With Caution" with all new cosmetics before you put them on your body.

In conclusion, looking beautiful is great. Checking out the products you are using is important so as not to have an allergic reaction to these products. It is important that you read the ingredient labels on cosmetics. Sometimes, if you can have a concern with certain ingredients, do a search on Google. You will be surprised at how many people have allergies to cosmetics. In the event of a severe reaction to certain beauty products, contact your Doctor for immediately.
