Maybe it is just me, but whenever I want to go out and get some shades for my kitchen I run into problems. Although the kitchen that I have right now is a bit too small for me to want to spend a whole bunch of time in, the kitchen has been my favorite room for hanging out in every house that we have had in the recent past.
The windows in each kitchen have always been small, and therefore, the kitchen drapes that I choose had to be small as well. I don't know if it's just me, but I can never find shades that I love.
Lately I have spent way more time than I should need to looking for draperies for my kitchen. This is not something that I am real proud of, but it is my reality right now. I have searched high and low for the perfect set of kitchen window treatments, and I have yet to find anything that I love.
I understand that the process of selecting colors and patterns to match what I have does not need to be difficult, but there is absolutely nothing that is going well. If I'm going to look at something everyday, I want it to be something that I will enjoy. I have a hard time finding draperies and draperies for the rest of my house, but nothing is more frustrating than trying to find them for the kitchen.
There are currently kitchen drapes on the windows in my kitchen, but they are not something that I enjoy. They are one solid color, and I was wishing to find something with a pattern. I understand that it is kind of a lame and petty thing to complain and whine about, but whenever I look at them they make me feel down.
I know for a fact that I am not the only person who has to deal with this problem. The other person who suffers from the same fate that I am in and almost certainly gave it to me via her genes is my mother. She can never find a kitchen curtain that she likes either and is perpetually changing them. My mothers lack of satisfaction with her shades is understandable though as she has spent over half of her years on this earth inside of a kitchen.
Even though I am not much of a seamstress, I may have to give in and make my own kitchen window treatments. Though I know these are famous last words, it cannot be that hard right? There is plenty of fabric out there that I know I love as I have seen it and told myself that it would make a fabulous kitchen curtain. I am just going to have to break down and do it if I cannot find something that I will be happy with soon. The skill for sewing window treatments is something that I am not afraid of following, it is simply the fact that there is no sewing machine in my possession. My only option for sewing curtains is to break out an actual needle and thread and sew them by hand. The window treatments that I put together by hand would probably pass for a pillow case before a curtain, but at least I won't have a reason to whine about the pattern.
